Widmark, a tough trapper who has killed the men responsible for murdering his wife and children, is captured by a local sheriff and chained to a wagon train. A band of Apaches attacks and kills everyone except Widmark, who is left for dead, and the teen occupants of one wagon. Widmark takes on the task of leading the group to safety.
