Video: Ultimate Spider-Man Joins the Avengers
Spider-Man is getting an upgrade. In the third season his animated Disney XD series, the popular webslinger gets a promotion to the Avengers, and makes some new friends (and enemies) along the way. The new season — premiering Sunday, Aug. 31 at 9 a.m./8c — also comes with a very Marvel-ous mouthful of new title: Marvel's Ultimate Spider-Man: Web Warriors.

Though he's always wanted to work with Captain America, Hulk, Iron Man and Co., Spidey will also continue to team up with his S.H.I.E.L.D. pals (Nova, Iron Fist, Power Man and White Tiger). He's also expand his web to include new allies, including a half-black, half-Hispanic counterpart from an alternate universe (voiced by Community's Donald Glover), scheduled to appear later in the season.
Here's an exclusive clip from Sunday's season premiere, in which Spider-Man's debut with the Avengers gets spoiled when Asgardian bad boy trickster Loki switches bodies with him and he gets hammered by his new teammates.
