Colin Ford will soon lead Daybreak, Netflix's forthcoming post-apocalyptic dramedy about a high school outcast who joins forces with a group of misfits while searching for his missing girlfriend. But to Supernatural fans, he's still Young Sam Winchester, who appeared throughout the series in childhood flashbacks to the character played as an adult by Jared Padalecki. With the CW series coming to an end after 15 seasons, Ford had a heartfelt message for Padalecki and the SPN Family.

"I'm so thankful for all the fans of Supernatural who supported me in playing Young Sam," Ford said. "Playing Young Sam was a big part of my life. I grew up acting on the show, watching the show, so it holds very true to my heart. I wish all of the cast and crew continued success on their journeys, and thank you, Jared Padalecki, for letting me play the younger you."

Ford's Daybreak co-star Sophie Simnett had the best response to his message, realizing that Padalecki is the same actor who played Dean in Gilmore Girls. (Simnett's Daybreak character is named Sam Dean, which not only combines the names of Supernatural's two Winchester brothers -- an accidental Easter egg -- but also combines two of Padalecki's most well-known characters.)

Watch Ford's sweet message and Simnett's charming reaction in the above video.

Supernatural airs Thursdays at 8/7c on the CW.

Meanwhile, catch Ford in Daybreak when it premieres Thursday, Oct. 24 on Netflix.
