It's a fair and balanced portrayal
Russell Crowe gets his Vice on as Roger Ailes in the first trailer for Showtime's The Loudest Voice, a limited series about the Fox News empire and Ailes' controversial reign based on Gabriel Sherman's book, The Loudest Voice in the Room.
Crowe stars as Ailes in the series, out June 30, and uncorks a variety of outraged one-liners in the trailer, including a plea to bring back fairness and balance to cable news. (He's also shown sexually harassing host Gretchen Carlson, played in the series by Naomi Watts.) His physical transformation recalls Christian Bale's turn as Dick Cheney in Adam McKay's Vice.

Produced by Jason Blum's Blumhouse, The Loudest Voice tracks how conservative media slow tore apart America from the inside out. It's also a feast of makeup, which is where Vice won its lone Oscar, in the transformations of Crowe as Ailes, Watts as Carlson, and, especially, Simon McBurney as Rupert Murdoch. Guy's a dead ringer.
The Loudest Voice is out June 30 on Showtime.
