Lifetime is continuing its run of '90s nostalgia biopics with a Britney Spears -centered movie titled Britney . The network announced on Wednesday that it has cast Natasha Bassett as the pop princess in a new biopic that starts filming in Vancouver next month. The TV movie will focus on Spears' rise to fame as a teenager, her turbulent public relationship with Justin Timberlake , her publicized meltdown and subsequent rebound back to pop stardom. Britney Spears' Carpool Karaoke is already iconic According to Lifetime the film will also document Spears' 55-hour marriage to Jason Alexander and her relationship with Kevin Federline , with whom she has two children. Anne-Marie Hess will pen the script with Leslie Libman ( Manson's Lost Girls ) directing. The announcement comes as Spears is about to release her ninth studio album, Glory . The pop starlet will also be featured in a "Carpool Karaoke" segment on The Late Late Show with James Corden on Thursday, followed up by a live performance at the MTV VMAs on Sunday, Aug. 28. Bassett is an Australian actress who appeared in the Down Under version of Rake , as well as NBC's short-lived comedy Camp and the Coen Brothers' Hail Caesar! . This is the second announced Lifetime TV movie in two days. Earlier in the week, Lifetime revealed it was making a new TV movie based on the life of suspected murderer Robert Durst.
