Box Office: Riddick Wins the Weekend

Sci-fi sequel Riddick took the top spot at the box office, bringing in $18.7 million in its opening weekend, Box Office Mojo reports.

Sci-fi sequel Riddick took the top spot at the box office, bringing in $18.7 million in its opening weekend, Box Office Mojo reports.

Holding steady at No. 2 was Lee Daniels' biopic The Butler with $8.9 million. The Spanish comedy Instructions Not Included, which had a surprisingly strong debut last week, expanded nationwide this week and moved up a spot to third place with an $8.1 million haul.

We're the Millers dropped a spot to No. 4 with $7.9 million, while Planes stayed at No. 5 with $4.3 million.

Last week's No. 1 film, One Direction: This Is Us, fell to sixth place with $4.1 million, while Elysium finished at No. 7 with $3.1 million.

Rounding out the Top 10 were Blue Jasmine (No. 8, $2.7 million), Percy Jackson: Sea of Monsters (No. 9, $2.5 million) and The World's End (No. 10, $2.3 million).
