One of TV's most durable and wholesome sitcoms is about widower Steve Douglas and his boys, who shared a house with their maternal grandfather, and later, their crotchety uncle. The series was originally scheduled to be a vehicle for the Lennon Sisters of 'Lawrence Welk Show' fame. Characters came and went, but this was an endearing, highly rated series throughout its 1960-72 run; when it moved from ABC to CBS in 1965, Mike, the eldest, was written out, and replaced by adopted son Ernie.

Keck's Exclusives: Castle Casts My Three Sons Vet

Former child star Barry Livingston, who played Ernie, the youngest of Fred MacMurray's boys on My Three Sons, has been cast on the October 31episode of ABC's Castle, titled "Cops and Robbers." Barry, now 57, will play Abe, an unsuspecting bank customer who his held hostage in a vault along with Castle (Natha Fillion) and his mother, Martha (Susan Sullivan), during a botched bank robbery.

Exclusive Dexter Preview: Sins of the Father

It's hard to imagine the father from My Three Sons in a mess like this. TV's newest widowed dad, Dexter Morgan, has left his kids at home to get the goods on a suspect he thinks may be a murderer. If that's true, Dex will probably have to kill the guy, just as he's offed 60-odd other psychos since the Showtime series began in 2006. Of course, Dexter himself might be the next casualty if he keeps the kids and their new nanny waiting much longer."It's definitely not easy balancing single fatherhood with the sort of affliction Dexter has," Michael C.
