The Outcast Reviews

Derek heads West and gets tough with Davis, a louse of an uncle who forged Derek's father's will and ended up with his ranch, instead of having it rightfully go to Derek. Now Derek is determined to get back what belongs to him, but he still manages to find time for women. Both Evans and McLeod hold his interest, with Evans being the gal with whom he settles down. Derek is almost too macho in his tough-guy role, constantly playing with his gun or battering his knuckles but never really showing the vulnerability that makes a good actor great. This was one of the last efforts by director Witney for Republic, the studio he had long labored for, turning out serials and low-budget westerns.
