Family matters take center stage in this charming drama about a single mother raising her teenage daughter in a Connecticut town. The pair, only 16 years apart in age, act more like friends than mother and daughter and even share the same taste in music.

Q: Has there been any news from Amy Sherman-Palladino about the Gilmore Girls TV-movie? A: No, but here's something fun: One of my Broadway spies spotted Team Palladino in the audience at Xanadu last Saturday night. Amy and Dan apparently loved the show so much that they bid $300 for a Xanadu teddy bear at a charity auction immediately following the performance ? and they didn't even take the prize! And before you ask, yes, Amy was wearing one of her ginormous Dr. Seuss hats. read more

Q: So now that AS-P's new show is kaput, what do you think are the odds she'll start getting serious about a Gilmore Girls movie? A: Your guess is as good as mine. For the record, my guess is in the neighborhood of 40-1. I imagine Team P has a fair amount of wound-licking to do before they dive back into TV. read more
  • Gilmore Gal’s New Series—Jezebel James | Today's Top Videos | 3/14/2008
The creator of Gilmore Girls, Amy Sherman-Palladino, is back on the scene with new series The Return of Jezebel James. The series stars Parker Posey as a psycho kiddie book editor who’s dying to have babies of her own—but physically can’t. So, obviously, the next step in the process would be to ask her sis to borrow her uterus. No, that’s not weird or anything. • The WB Is Back, with Gilmore Girls and More! | Today's News: Our Take | 3/9/2008
Two years after signing off the airwaves, the WB is returning with new programming — as well as some of its most memorable series — but not on TV. According to an article in the Hollywood Reporter, the Warner Bros. Television Group is reviving the network as a website, where viewers will be able to watch free streaming episodes of Gilmore Girls, What I Like About You and Everwood, as well as all other WB-produced shows. (The site's "working title," wb.com, currently jumps to a general... read more
  • Expanded Idol Postpones Gilmore Creator's Return | Today's News: Our Take | 2/12/2008
Fox has announced that the American Idol results show will be expanded to a full hour as of March 12, a bit sooner than planned. As a result, Gilmore girl Amy Sherman-Palladino's The Return of Jezebel James no longer will "sneak preview" in the choice apres-Idol slot. Instead, JJ will debut with back-to-back episodes on Friday, March 14, at 8 pm/ET. Friday at 8, yeah. No happy Return there. read more

  • Ask Matt | 2/4/2008
Can you please explain to me why viewers feel the need for interesting characters to immediately get together? Sometimes we know that they will come together eventually (like Gilmore Girls' Luke and Lorelai), but it's all about the journey. As soon as a new cast member appears, people immediately scream for him/her to hook up with a favorite regular. Why don't we just enjoy interesting characters by themselves? And if we must force them into couplehood, can we at least wait two or three ... read more

All this talk of whether a show qualifies as a comedy or drama in awards season ? why does it even matter? These days, it seems more of a political term for awards status. I've seen many shows listed as dramas that are very comedic. I can think of at least one show listed as a sitcom that I feel was more dramatic than some "dramas" (the still very-missed Sports Night). At the end of the day, all I care about is that the show is well done, and that the plots are thought out and well executed.... read more

I am going to preface my question by trying to establish a little street cred. My favorite shows include Veronica Mars, Friday Night Lights, Battlestar Galactica, The Sopranos and The Wire. While I have enjoyed new shows like Dirty Sexy Money and Chuck, there has been one show, to my big surprise, that has become my favorite: Moonlight. I know, the pilot was horrible. I originally checked it out to see alums from Veronica Mars and Alias, but I have stayed because of Alex O'Loughlin. I think he... read more
  • Exclusive: Gilmore Comeback a Religious Experience | Ausiello Report | 11/14/2007
Nobody can ever say that Matt Czuchry is a victim of typecasting. Sources confirm to me exclusively that Czuchry is following up his memorable stint as hard-living bad boy Logan on Gilmore Girls with an arc on Friday Night Lights as — I kid you not — a devout Christian. Natch, he's being introduced to the show via the newly religious Lyla. He'll first show up in FNL's 12th episode when Lyla guests on his Christian radio show.So what do you think, people? Is this some heaven-sent... read more

  • Ask Matt | 11/12/2007
Since about 2000, I've tried to find one place on the TV lineup where there are three continuous hours of television that I want to watch. I think it began with Millionaire, The West Wing and Law & Order, and then there was Gilmore Girls, Veronica Mars and Judging Amy. My favorite trifecta was last season's Ugly Betty, Grey's Anatomy and Men in Trees, which was fun while it lasted. Now, to my surprise, this year I have an all-freshman guilty-pleasure trifecta on Wednesdays: Pushing Daisies, ... read more
