The Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance Adds Lena Headey, Awkwafina, and More

If you're ever looking for a "who's who in Hollywood" list, all you need to do is pull up the cast roster for The Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance. On Wednesday, Netflix announced even more high-profile names who are voicing characters in the series, which serves as a prequel to Jim Henson's 1982 classic The Dark Crystal.

Game of Thronesstar Lena Headey has now joined the fold as the character Maudra Fara, while Avengers: Endgame's Benedict Wong will voice The General and Awkwafina will be heard as The Collector. Sigourney Weaver will lend her voice as the Myth-Speaker.

Hannah John-Kamen also joins the cast as Naia, and original Dark Crystal star and accomplished puppeteer Dave Goelz reprises his role as the Fizzgig Baffi.

Those half dozen names alone make for an impressive call sheet, but the group joins an already sprawling list of actors who are part of the Age of Resistance.

Netflix's The Dark Crystal Prequel Will Honor the Original Film

Previously announced as the Gelfling heroes at the center of The Dark Crystal's newest adventure are Taron Egerton as Rian, Anya Taylor-Joy as Brea, and Nathalie Emmanuel as Deet. They'll get some support on their side of the battle ahead from stars like Caitriona Balfe, Helena Bonham-Carter, Harris Dickinson, Natalie Dormer, Eddie Izzard, Theo James, Toby Jones, Shazad Latif, Gugu Mbatha-Raw, Mark Strong, and Alicia Vikander. Meanwhile, the Skeksis and Mystics will be boosted by some serious vocal talents as well, including Harvey Fierstein, Mark Hamill, Ralph Ineson, Jason Isaacs, Keegan-Michael Key, Ólafur Darri Ólafsson, Simon Pegg, and Andy Samberg.

So, yeah. Essentially, everyone who is anyone is a part of this new series.

The Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance takes place before the events of The Dark Crystal, in an age when the world of Thra is suffering as the Skeksis spread corruption and disease that damage the Crystal of Truth, which is the source of the planet's power. The series, which is set for a 10-episode first season, will honor the original by using puppetry and visual effects instead of pure computer animation.
