Last Man Standing is staging another casting shake-up in its first season back on the air. Sitcom legend Tisha Campell is joining the cast as Chuck's (Jonathan Adams) wife Carol Larabee, TV Guide has learned. The character, who is also best friend's with Vanessa (Nancy Travis) was originally played by actress Erika Alexander.

Carol was last seen in the show's sixth season on ABC before she left for a year-long job in California. Alexander was unable to return to the series due to a scheduling conflict and now Campbell will take over the role for a recurring stint.

Campbell is most known for her iconic portrayal of Gina on the '90s sitcom Martin. In recent years she's appeared on Dr. Ken, Empire and Grey's Anatomy.

Last Man Standing has been a top performer for Fox since it was revived out of cancellation this spring. It is the network's highest rated show in Live+Same Day ratings and routinely wins Friday nights in the key 18-49 demo -- which is what the advertisers care about.

Deadline was the first to report the news.

Last Man Standing airs Fridays at 8/7c on Fox.
