The show's not over yet; it looks like Transparentmight just be returning to Amazon as a two-hour musical movie next.
Creator Jill Soloway revealed to the New York Times(via EW) that in the wake of Jeffrey Tambor's firing from the hit series, the family would be coming back by way of a feature-length musical -- although it's not clear what that might mean for the proposed fifth and final season of the show.
Soloway explained, "This idea of music rescuing our family was all there. So we're like, Let's just keep blowing on the flame. The Pfeffermans will live on, and that's what kept us going and then Jen Salke [head of studios at Amazon] sat down with me and told me, 'It's going to be OK.' So we just kept singing." The movie is expected to air next year, and Soloway hopes it'll end up being a sort of mash-up of musicals past, including Jesus Christ Superstar, La La Land and Yentl, among others.

The effort certainly echoes Soloway's previously stated hopes that the Pfefferman's final run would include "some sort of beautiful reclaiming."
No word yet whether the proposed musical will have any relation to Soloway's sister Faith's musical, which centers on Judith Light's character rather than Tambor's.
Tambor was fired from the role that won him two Emmys after the network investigated multiple counts of sexual assault against the actor. The actor has denied the allegations.
